How We Work

How We Work: From Site Survey to a System That Just Works

Most network and camera problems start with a rushed install — gear stuck wherever it fit, cables nobody can trace, and no one to call afterward. We do it differently. Every Wall Street Networks project follows the same clear process, so you know what's happening, what it costs, and what you're getting at every step.

Step 1: Site Survey

We start by seeing the space in person. During the survey we:

  • Walk the property and talk through what you need — coverage, cameras, doors, AV, phones, or all of the above
  • Look at construction, ceiling access, and realistic cable paths
  • Check your internet service, existing equipment, and anything worth reusing
  • Note where gear should go: access points, cameras, readers, racks, and network closets

You'll come away with a clear picture of what makes sense for your building — and honest advice about what you don't need.

Step 2: A Line-Item Bill of Materials (BoM)

No vague "network package" pricing. Your quote lists:

  • Every device — gateway, switches, access points, cameras, readers, and so on, with model numbers
  • Every cable run — how many drops and where they go
  • Labor — installation, configuration, and any special work (ceilings, exterior mounting, conduit)
  • Options — where it helps, we show "good / better" choices so you can decide what fits your budget

You can see exactly where the money goes, and change the scope before any work starts.

Step 3: Professional Installation

Once you approve the quote, we schedule the install around your home life or business hours. Our installs include:

  • Neat, properly supported cable runs — no loose wires draped across ceilings
  • Terminated, tested drops
  • Clean rack or wall-mount builds with cable management
  • Gear mounted where it performs best, not just where it was easiest
  • Full configuration: networks, Wi-Fi, VLANs/guest networks, camera recording, door schedules, and user access

Clean work is the standard, not an upgrade. It's the reason customers call us back for the next project.

Step 4: Labeling, Documentation & Handover

When we're done, you're not left guessing. Handover includes:

  • Labeled cables, ports, and patch panels so any drop can be traced in seconds
  • Basic documentation of your setup — what was installed and where
  • Admin access set up under your ownership — your system, your accounts
  • A walkthrough of the apps you'll use: viewing cameras, managing Wi-Fi, letting people in the door

Step 5: Optional Managed Support

Some customers want to run things themselves after handover. Others would rather have us keep an eye on it. If you choose ongoing support, we can help with:

  • Remote monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Firmware and configuration updates
  • Adding users, cameras, doors, or access points as you grow
  • Priority help when something isn't working

Support is optional. You own your equipment either way.

What's Included — and What's Not

Included in a standard project

  • On-site survey and a written line-item quote
  • Equipment as listed on your BoM
  • Cable runs, terminations, and testing as quoted
  • Mounting, configuration, and setup
  • Labeling and basic documentation
  • A handover walkthrough

Not included unless quoted

  • Electrical work requiring a licensed electrician (new circuits, outlets)
  • Major drywall repair, painting, or patching beyond minor finishing
  • Permits or landlord/building approvals (we'll tell you when you're likely to need them)
  • Internet service itself — we work with your ISP's connection or Starlink
  • Ongoing support after handover, unless you choose a support plan

What Does a Project Cost?

Every building is different, so we don't publish one-size-fits-all prices. Your cost depends on:

  • Size and layout of the space
  • Number of devices — access points, cameras, doors
  • Cable runs — how many, how long, and how hard to reach (finished walls vs. open ceilings)
  • Equipment tier you choose
  • Mounting conditions — exterior work, high ceilings, or conduit

A small home Wi-Fi upgrade is a very different project from a multi-door, multi-camera commercial build, and your quote will reflect that. The site survey is how we give you a real number instead of a guess — and the line-item BoM means you can adjust scope to hit your budget.

Where We Work

We primarily serve New York City, NY Metro, and the Hudson Valley. We also take projects in the Bay Area and San Diego by appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a site survey before getting a quote?
For most projects, yes. Seeing the space is how we give you an accurate quote. For small, straightforward jobs, we may be able to quote from photos and a quick call.

Can you work with equipment I already have?
Often, yes. During the survey we'll tell you what's worth keeping and what's holding your system back.

Will I own the system?
Yes. Your equipment and admin accounts belong to you, whether or not you choose ongoing support.

Can I just buy the hardware from you?
Absolutely. We sell UniFi hardware in our shop. If you'd like it installed, we can do that too.

Do you work during business hours only?
We schedule around your needs — including off-hours for restaurants and retail when possible.
